Comparison Method

Method

Pixel-level is exact. Structural similarity tolerates minor rendering noise. Perceptual hash is a fast, coarse pre-screen with no region-level detail - good for finding which pages of a large document are worth a closer look.

Rendering DPI

Higher is more sensitive to small differences and slower to compare.

Ignore Regions

Applies to every page - e.g. a footer timestamp that always differs. Coordinates are percentages of the page.

Ignore color-only differencesCompares shape and layout only - a region that only changed color is not flagged.

Anti-aliasing tolerance

Raises the sensitivity threshold by this percentage, so ordinary rendering noise is less likely to be flagged.

Detection Categories

Layout shiftsAn element moved to a different position. Size/scale changesAn element's extent grew or shrank. Color/fill changesThe same shape, recolored. Image content swapsA different image or content in the same position. Added/removed elementsContent present on only one side.
