Every page is read operator by operator, so the checker knows exactly which text run, shape, image or gradient uses which colour space - including colours hidden inside forms and patterns, and objects that never set a colour and fall back to black. Each one is checked against your target: CMYK print, RGB screen, grayscale, or a custom set.
The page view outlines objects by colour space, with violations in red, and can isolate a single colour space so stray RGB stands out. It also flags rich-black small text, white objects set to overprint, RGB transparency blending and output-intent mismatches. Optional conversion uses Ghostscript, keeps pure black text as K only, and re-checks the result.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the Preflight Checker?
Preflight Checker looks at many print risks and treats colour as one of them, reporting the colour spaces each page declares. This tool reads what is actually painted, object by object, so it can point at the exact text, shape or image that uses the wrong colour space - and optionally convert it.
What changes when I convert?
Conversion runs Ghostscript, which rebuilds the whole PDF: colours outside your target are converted, pure black text is kept as K-only black, and spot colours are kept unless you choose otherwise. Because the file is rebuilt, accessibility tags are removed and fonts or form fields may be re-encoded, so the Studio shows exactly what will change and asks you to confirm first. The converted file is re-checked and any remaining violations are reported.
Why is my small black text flagged?
It is set in rich black - a mix of cyan, magenta, yellow and black - rather than black alone. On press the four inks never line up perfectly, so small text in rich black can look blurry or have coloured fringes. Pure K-only black is the safe choice for body text.
