Broken Link Fixer

Find the broken links in a PDF - dead web pages, redirects, bad internal jumps, malformed URLs - and repair them in a corrected file.

Every link is found - clickable ones and web addresses typed as plain text - and checked: web pages for dead ends, redirects and pages that quietly forward to a home page, internal links for pages and destinations that don't exist, e-mail addresses for their syntax. Sites that refuse automated checks are reported as blocked, never as broken.

Each link gets a suggested fix where one exists: the final address of a moved page, the https version, a repaired URL, an Internet Archive snapshot of a dead page, or the right page for a dead internal link. Approve fixes one by one or all at once, retarget internal links by clicking a page, remove dead links, or make plain-text addresses clickable - then download the corrected PDF with a repair report.

Simple workflow

How it works

    Add a PDF

Add one or more PDFs with links to check.

  2. 2

Review each link's status on the page and in the findings table, and pick a fix - or apply every suggested one.

  3. 3

    Fix links

Download the corrected PDF, with a repair report and a list of anything left to follow up.

Frequently asked questions

A link shows as "Blocked" - is it broken?

Not necessarily. Many sites refuse automated checks (403, 429 or a bot challenge), so a block isn't proof the page is gone. Blocked links are never fixed or removed automatically - open them in a browser to be sure.

What is a "likely broken" link?

A link that answers successfully but has really lost its page: it forwards to the site's home page, or the page's title says "not found". These "soft 404s" are flagged with the reason and always wait for your review.

Is it safe to check links from a document I don't trust?

Yes. Only web addresses are requested, from our server and never your browser; addresses that point into private networks are refused, only a few kilobytes of each page are read, and no cookies or credentials are ever sent.
