Bank Statement to CSV

Extract transactions from a bank statement PDF into CSV, Excel, QIF or OFX - categorized, reconciled against the running balance, and with duplicates and gaps flagged for review.

This tool detects a statement's transaction table by matching common column-header wording (Date/Description/Debit/Credit/Balance and known variants), parses each row, categorizes it by keyword, recomputes the running balance to check it reconciles, and flags duplicate or unusually-spaced transactions for review. It does not run OCR - a scanned page with no text layer is flagged and skipped rather than guessed at. It only reads the file; nothing is changed.

Simple workflow

How it works

  1. 1

    Add statements

Add one or more bank statement PDFs to the list.

  2. 2

    Extract

Extract a file and review its transactions, verifying low-confidence rows against the original page.

  3. 3

    Download

Download the transactions and a reconciliation summary.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work on any bank's statement?

It ships with header-vocabulary presets for a few common US banks (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo) plus a generic auto-detect fallback for any statement with a recognizable Date/Description/Amount-or-Debit-Credit/Balance table - not exhaustive coverage. An unrecognized layout is reported clearly rather than guessed at.

Does this OCR scanned statements?

No. A page with no extractable text layer is flagged and skipped, not guessed at through OCR.

What happens when the running balance doesn't reconcile?

The mismatched row is flagged for review - the original stated balance is never silently corrected or altered.
